Friday's Finals began with a ceremonial "True Spirit
of Swimming" first swim sponsored by Swimming World Magazine. A heat
of Masters Swimmers averaging 71 years young completed a demonstration
swim! In alphabetical order: Joan Alexander, Betty Barabash, Jean Duncan,
Dixie Germolus, Bea Heim, Jae Howell, Pat Prevetz and Elfriede Rogers.

Swimming World sponsored a "True Spirit of Swimming Award"
to the team which demonstrated the greatest sportsmanship and spirit throughout
the meet. Accepting the award is the Blackhawk Swim Team 13-14 Girlds 200
Freestyle Relay Team. Congratulations Blackhawk, and thanks Swimming World.

Natalie Coughlin of the Terrapins Swim Team was recognized by Swimming
World Magazine as the Female High School Athlete of the Year. The August
edition features her picture on the cover next to a set of individual awards.
Natalie's 50 Backstroke to lead off the Terrapins 200 Medley Relay was
a highlight in the meet, as she missed the World Record by only one one-hundreth
of a second.

Devin Spicer was the 13-14 Boys high point winner, and amassed more
points than any other swimmer throughout the Championships.

Amy Thurmond was the 13-14 Girls High Point winner. Amy swims for the
Orinda Aquatics.
