July 17, 2025 - Pacific Swimming Names Beau Caldwell as Competition Coordinator

Pacific Swimming is excited to announce the addition of a new staff position, adding the role of Competition Coordinator. This new position gives our LSC a fresh set of eyes and alleviates a lot of volunteer governance work needed to ensure Pacific meets serve the needs of our members.

Beau Caldwell comes to Pacific Swimming after 20 years as a coach and volunteer within LSC governance. While most recently the head coach of Elmwood Sharks in New Orleans, LA, Beau brings coaching experience with the gold, silver, and bronze medal clubs, is a former team owner and collegiate coach, and has earned ASCA level 3 recognition. In governance, Beau spent time as Gulf Swimming’s technical planning chair, where he led an initiative to restructure meets and competition to manage growth and demand within the LSC, including 1) incentivizing new meet hosts and new officials, 2) controlling timelines, and 3) and increasing splashes amongst athletes in practical ways. Beau has also served as an LSC secretary, on a sanctioning committee, and on multiple formatting committees.

“Swim meet logistics are about making an equation work for each party involved- athletes, coaches, parents, officials, facilities, and governance,” Caldwell said. “It’s the LSC’s responsibility to ensure these equations are acceptable with all parties, having each party feeling fulfilled and able to grow.”

The primary area of focus for this position is to analyze information from swim meets to suggest changes to the meet schedule that increases participation and performance for all athletes. The Competition Coordinator is responsible for ensuring there is a sensible progression for each level of athlete, a championship meet for each level of athlete and ensuring that each swim meet takes place.

"With the size of the LSC, and the challenges in creating a balanced meet schedule that serves all athletes at every level, Pacific Swimming has taken the structural step to create the new staff position of Competition Coordinator. After a national search, the Personnel Committee is thrilled to welcome Beau Caldwell to Pacific Swimming,” said Don Heidary, who serves as a member of the LSC Personnel Committee and on Pacific Swimming’s Board of Directors. “Through dialogue and meetings, it became apparent that Beau brings a depth of knowledge and passion as a coach and as an administrator, that cannot only move Pacific Swimming forward in this critical area, but can truly transform the competitive landscape, with the beneficiaries being the 15,000 athletes and 100 clubs that rely so heavily on competitive opportunities. We are excited and thrilled to welcome Beau, and for this new chapter in Pacific Swimming’s growth and success."

Beau will be out at Far Westerns on Thursday and Friday, July 31-Aug 1, to meet Pacific coaches and team reps. He will officially start his duties on Monday, Aug 11. Contact information will be communicated when it is available.

Pacific Swimming is excited to welcome Beau to our team!
